LinkedIn to Test “Casual Hookup” Feature Next Month
Roslansky teases LinkedIn Kiss by kissing 14 lucky audience members!

LinkedIn has traditionally been a social media geared towards the professional world. Users use it to connect with others who have similar business interests, hunt for their next big job, or reconnect with old high school friends in hopes that they will invest money with you at MassMutual. While this business model has suited LinkedIn well, they are never satisfied. That’s why next month they hope to shake up the platform with a new casual hookup feature, called LinkedIn Kiss.

LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky made it clear that this feature is not for dating, and is strictly geared at casual hookups. In addition to traditional filters like age and distance, LinkedIn hopes to incorporate some of their own filters to differentiate them from the competition. Users will be able to filter potential matches by college GPA, Microsoft Office endorsements, and job status like open for work, hiring, etc.

When asked about the emphasis on hookups rather than a long-term partner, Roslansky explained that the workplace is no place for dating. It gets messy when employees date and then break it off. When the relationship is casual, however, team morale soars with little to no collateral when it comes to an end. At the end of the day, it’s all about company productivity.

The recommendations feature will also be a valuable tool for LinkedIn Kiss. After a night of adventure, users will be able to write recommendations that will appear on their profile. There’s no need to be selfish on LinkedIn Kiss, and this feature affirms that. There’s no better marketing than word-of-mouth!

Roslansky ended his announcement by letting users know that he hopes they can circle back to the bedroom, follow up if the night is fun, and chat internally about what can be improved for a better morning after moving forward.
