Marco Rubio to Open for Taylor Swift on European Leg of Eras Tour
Taylor has not yet addressed the rumors that she and Marco Rubio are dating.

Yes, you heard that right. Last week, Taylor Swift teased a special opener for the European leg of her Eras tour. Fans guessed anyone and everyone, from Drake to Jojo Siwa. Taylor’s team kept everything under wraps, and she finally revealed her pal for the next few months in a tweet. Marco Rubio, the Florida Senator, will be opening for Taylor in all European cities.

Fans were rightfully confused with this choice. The obvious issue here is that Rubio isn’t a singer. He’s likely no good, and even if he is, there’s no way he can hold a candle to Taylor’s other openers. She had Paramore opening her for pete’s sake! Beyond that, Taylor has gone on record as being pretty liberal. Rubio is a lifelong Republican, and there’s no way they have very much in common.

In her tweet, Taylor addressed the controversy head-on. She stated, “Although we’ve had our political differences, Marco is a dear friend. He and I love to lay down with a bottle of red wine and watch our guilty pleasure show, Love Island. He’s got some great original music and I can’t wait for you to see him shine!”

As great journalists do, we searched far and wide for any confirmation of Taylor’s tweet. There is not a single video, or even image, of Marco Rubio singing. No professional recordings, no karaoke nights, and no drunk Snapchat videos. We really don’t know what Taylor is seeing.

She also didn’t give us any details about what kind of artist Marco is. Does he do country? Pop? R&B? There’s no telling what he might whip out come Paris in May. We also wonder if he’s planning to drop an album and then announce his run for presidency. It would be a bit late to throw his hat in the ring, but as a big name, he would be sure to gain some initial traction against DeSantis and Trump. If that is the plan, touring internationally seems like a backwards move, as any new fans won’t be able to vote in the US.

Regardless of what happens, we are still super excited for this international tour. Swifties have been patiently waiting as Taylor has traveled across the US, and they’re so close to being able to experience the record-setting concert themselves. Regardless of whether Marco soars or crashes and burns, we know Taylor will put on a hell of a show.
