Confusing: Kid Dancing to get on Jumbotron gets on Jumbotron and Acts Surprised
October marks the start of the MLB playoffs, and we’ve already had an exciting series of games. Wild Card Weekend kicked off the postseason, and eyes were on the Philadelphia Phillies, taking on the Miami Marlins in the City of Brotherly Love. The games were great, but this morning everyone was talking about a more confusing storyline of the night.
Between the top and bottom of the 6th inning in Game Two, energy was high in Philadelphia. To keep the party going, music began to play and camera operators looked for dancing fans in the crowd. Kids were jumping around, drunk dads were feeling loose, and everything was perfect. That is until the camera found little Freddy Jackson.
Freddy Jackson is your typical tween. He’s full of life, and completely insufferable to be around for more than 20 minutes. For his 12th birthday, Freddy was gifted a ticket alongside his father for the Phillies second Wild Card game. Freddy’s excitement was palpable, and he was dancing all night. Imagine his delight when during the 6th inning dance break, he made it on the Jumbotron.
It’s important to note that Freddy actively talked about getting onto the Jumbotron all night. He specifically danced when he saw others getting recognition, so this was a goal of his. When he finally got onto the big screen, however, the night changed for the worse.
Freddy’s dancing showed up on the Jumbotron, and at first he kept going, not realizing he was being highlighted. When he turned to his right, he saw himself and immediately started going berserk. This kid looked like he never expected such a sight, and couldn’t contain his feelings.
This is confusing for a few reasons. First, Freddy talked all day about being on the Jumbotron. If you talked to him enough, you would have assumed that it was a done deal by the way he was speaking. Additionally, he wasn’t dancing for his own enjoyment. He specifically danced in order to be featured on the big screen. So then why was he so shocked when he was actually featured?
This reeks of immaturity. Freddy should be ashamed of his actions, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers schools when this all dies down a bit. No one outlives this embarrassment, and a change of scenery might be exactly what Freddy needs. I want to apologize on behalf of everyone in attendance last night for the actions of this miscreant. It won’t happen again.
